Writing is King
I’m obviously talking for myself, but I truly believe that writing is the most important form of communication you can learn.
I know that we’re trending toward a society where video is king (see Youtube, TikTok, Stories, etc), but as Steph (on Twitter) says, the best short videos all use text as well to better communicate with the consumer.
I’d also argue that the reason why writing is so important is that it’s so versatile as a medium.
You can use it to communicate to someone else (ex: sending an email), you can use it to reflect on your own thoughts (ex: journal), you can use it to create (ex: writing a newsletter), you can use it to sell (ex: copywriting). There are just so many things that you can do through writing that you can’t do as easily through other mediums.
And what’s cool is that because it’s so versatile, it also means you can create so many “reps” as well to improve in that particular skill. The more you write, the better you write, right?
