Stop Trend Hopping

In 2019-2020, it was Tools for Thought like Notion, Roam Research, Coda, Evernote.

In 2021-2022, it was Crypto and Web3.

In 2023 it looks like the new trend will be AI.

Over the years, I’ve been the one who hopped from trend to trend as new exciting technology was being developed and it’s what all the cool kids were talking about on Twitter.

But for once, I don’t have this same feeling. I loved web3 so much, that I finally think that I’ve found where I want to stay and plant roots in this space.

And unless you are someone who can take advantage of a new trends rapidly, I do think that the best think you can do long-term is to pick a space and become an expert in it, instead of always going for whatever is hot.

You’ll always be the first to hop on a trend, but I feel doing that always makes you a visitor instead of someone who stays in the ecosystem.

I know AI will definitely have a huge future, but I’m also willing to bet that web3 will be as important or even if not important, as impactful.

Excited to see where my web3 journey brings me and as MA said “It’s time to build.”
