High Conviction Goals, Loosely Held
Inspired by the term “Strong Convictions, Loosely Held.”
So I’ll be honest, the title is a tad misleading. The real title should’ve been “High Conviction Goals, but the path to get there should be loosely held,” but obviously that doesn’t make a great title, so it had to be cut.
In the past, I made the mistake of having loosely held paths but also had loosely held goals and it led me to a lot of places, but it didn’t get me anywhere. And I guess that makes sense because I didn’t have a clear direction of where I was going.
In the spirit of forming hypothesis testing, my new experiment will be to have a strong goal, but the path to take me there should be fluid.
And I feel this is more aligned with what should happen. At the end of the day, as long as you have a certain vision/goal in mind, the path that you should take shouldn’t really matter.
This creates openings and opportunities for you to pounce on if you believe that taking them will bring you to that goal.
Previously, I would just hop on cool opportunities, but without having an archiving goal, then it wouldn’t really matter because I didn’t know where that would bring me.
On one had, it sucks because I feel that I wasted my time just walking aimlessly, but at the same time, I have a bunch of experiences that I know will help me in this new goal that I’m aiming for.
