Don’t Overcomplicate Things

“I really need to start writing again” is the line I’ve been telling myself for the past few months.

I know that writing is probably the biggest ROI habit that I could have. I think a lot, procrastinate a lot and I seem to unlock way more when I’m able to write things down.

Inspired by my friend James and my brother both having a daily shipping habit, I wanted to do the same.

But I didn’t.

And the reason I gave myself was that I wanted to have a nice archive like James’ site. So I asked him which CMS he used to build his website. And then asked my brother which CMS he used to build his website.

And that’s when my brother called me out.

“You’re overcomplicating things for nothing.” And he was right. I definitely was overcomplicating things.

So instead, I sat down on my computer and spent a few hours just tweaking my website to make it like I wanted.

In the end, it wasn’t perfect and to create the “archive-like” effect is actually a few steps. But you know what? I got it done and instead of (probably) postponing the re-start of my writing, well here’s the first post!

In most cases, it’s better to be done than perfect, because perfect will never actually happen.

So don’t overcomplicate things.
